Love him or hate him, Donald Trump is the duly elected 47th president of the United States. The radical Left ideology of “Woke” has been pressed back into the box. The electoral map and popular vote count is all the proof needed to show that America did not fall on the sword for abortion or the ability of biological males to shower and dress in the same locker-room with biological females. The people have spoken, and the opposition would do well to seriously reflect upon how it so egregiously misread the country. Unfortunately, this reflection will not happen anytime soon. Only two weeks have passed, and the “resistance” is already in regeneration mode to come to the rescue of America’s fragile democracy. Funny thing, a Republican gestapo charged with wreaking havoc and retribution against those opposed to the Trump administration has not yet materialized, and neither have Vladimir Putin nor Kim Jung Un been issued lifetime boxes at the Kennedy Center. No, people seem to be getting on with their lives, looking toward a hopefully better future, and not one awash in either whining recriminations or fear mongering.
The Democratic party lost the presidential race because they are totally detached from the core constituency they once so valiantly and successfully represented: working people. No amount of talk about reproductive rights or gender affirming care was ever going to override the reality of higher prices and inflation. When a working mother is economically forced to choose buying or not buying items to feed her family, arguments for diversity, equity and inclusion sound as fatuous as making a case for wearing Bermuda shorts in the Arctic. What’s worse, totally lacking the vision or ideas to make a country better the Democratic party, as a last resort, was okay with allowing its apparatchiks and standard bearer to disgracefully accuse the opposition of racial villainy, misogyny, fascism, and Hitlerism. As Americans, even in our moments of vehement and passionate disagreement, we should be able to do better than that.
Life will go on in these United States, but if the party out of power so hates and despises the leadership that replaced it, they might start soul-searching by considering three things: 1) Stop living in your own soundproof room, and start listening to the voters, the people who really count. 2) Start fielding candidates for national office whose appeal is across a broad section of the country we live in, not just the exclusive domain of a small cadre of radicals. America is still in many ways a centrist nation when it comes down to the nitty-gritty of social issues, and those who articulate and espouse extremist positions, either left or right, are not a good bet to lead us. 3) Finally, make sure that whoever is going to carry the banner into the fight is somebody able to articulate, project, and inspire confidence in what your party stands for. Hiding from the public and the press is not going to cut it in future, not for the presidency. It is not necessary to name names, as you all know who you are. Take heed!
