Joe Biden is imploding before the eyes of the nation. The great unifier is in the dumps in poll after poll, and everyone seems to be acutely aware of this fact except for those in Biden’s inner most circle and Biden himself.
It’s hard for Americans to wind up paying well over $100 dollars for three small bags of groceries and then try and convince themselves that they are better off than they were four years ago or that inflation is a thing of the past. It wasn’t supposed to be this way, as the Biden presidency was a promise to America of a restoration of calm, unity, responsibility and level headedness after the four tumultuous years of Donald Trump. With a faltering economy, rising violent crime in the nation’s cities, anarchy across America’s college campuses, unchecked illegal immigration now numbering in the millions of persons, and endless involvement in foreign wars, America is more like a country on a gurney awaiting treatment in the emergency room.
The “Biden problem” is now front and center in the minds of Democratic apparatchiks. The monster they created in Joe Biden is threatening to destroy their very political existence and send their ship to the bottom of the ocean. They are virtually beside themselves with foreboding and worry, and like all cornered animals, will spare nothing in the desperate effort to hold onto to their power.
The alarm bells are sounding, so among those directly involved in the president’s reelection effort, a number of radical options are now on the table. There is the swap Biden out option for a stronger Democrat capable of drawing together the disparate segments of the party base to win the general election in November. While this strategy may indeed be the most desirable 11th hour move, it is fraught with problems. To oust Biden is to also oust Kamala Harris, who traditionally would be Biden’s heir apparent should she seek the nomination upon completion of a Biden second term in in 2028. With Biden’s African American support eroding, removing Harris would be a seriously perceived blow to the prominence of African Americans in the Democratic party, a voting block Joe Biden has been fawningly solicitous of throughout his political career. Then there is the accelerated debate schedule option, involving a Biden-Trump debate even before both men have been officially renominated by their respective parties. It seems that Biden’s enthusiasm for this event is substantial considering that the proposed debate moderators would be CNN’s own Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, who literally would be functioning not in a role of hardline probing journalists, but as facilitators of the Biden story line of prosperity and a better America for all. By trying to again emphasize Biden as hale and hearty in the preconvention phases of the campaign, doubts about his mental and physical acuity could once again be dispelled. It wouldn’t matter anyway, because whether Biden was able to articulate a single intelligible, coherent thought, his press boosters and minions would declare his performance a victorious one. Then there is the prospect of canceling the Democratic convention completely, as fear that the scene might result in 1968 Chicago like violence and dissension, this time over the Palestinians in Gaza, could irreparably damage the optics of Biden’s renomination.
The truth is that only one thing will help Joe Biden, and it is the one thing he will not and cannot do. He must do a Mea culpa and admit that the zany and destructive trajectory of the far left of his party has taken him into a place politically that is neither approved of nor desired by the vast majority of Americans. He must start governing the country as if he has something greater to offer the average voter then abortion and aviator glasses. He must acknowledge that while replacing fossil fuel is a legitimate and worthy goal, it is not going to happen by 2030, any more than Americans are going to all be driving electric cars or getting rid of their gas stoves. He must stem the endless flow of human beings across America’s Southern border. Most importantly, he must boldly lead America away from the financially bottomless pit of foreign wars and entanglements that do absolutely nothing to qualitatively improve the life of Americans. America is in full panic mode, and the Biden Oval Office is squarely in the eye of a storm, a storm Joe Biden created of his own accord.
